OVERVIEW
Kirkcudbright - pronounced: Kir-Coo-Bree
Kirkcudbright is one of Scotland's most vibrant small towns and right in the heart of great cycling country. We are not the first, many before have also called it home; from Celtic tribes to the Roman General Agricola, the Galloway Picts, St. Cuthbert and more recently a flourishing colony of artists and crafts people.
We love its pastel coloured houses, the castle and the fact that it still has real family shops and a working harbour. As usual, Galloway Cycling Holidays partners with the best of hotels and self-catering accommodation.
You can ride out along the coast, into the hills or a bit of both. Every day you get to pick from a range of 10, 20, 30, 40 mile or further rides. If you don't want to ride then we have walking tours, a cook school, then connections to organise studio visits; or you can simply enjoy the shops, galleries and cafes.
This tour is perfect for those on a discovery round-trip through Scotland, or passing through Galloway on the way to Ireland - England, or just wanting to explore the region along the southern Scottish coast because they have never been or love it. Take a break and slow down.

Day 2: A loop to Gatehouse
Gatehouse itself is a very pretty little town with many cafes, a very lovely second hand bookshop and an artist pop-up shop at the Mill of the Fleet. We could also arrange for a sumptuous Afternoon Tea at Cally Palace.

An easy 21 mile ride to our Market town. You will pass Threave Gardens on your way.
We can make it longer for you to explore the beautiful banks of the river Dee and where the Galloway Hoard was found.

If you got some time left, why not go to Dundrennan where Mary Queen of Scots spent her last night on before boarding the ship to England to meet her cousin?
