So, why am I thinking about this? Well, we went for a ride at the weekend with a friend from the area. It was a far from perfect forecast, but the reality was far better. I had designed the route to give us the most shelter from a strong wind as we headed back home. I had avoided the exposed moors on the way out, but the sun was out and despite clouds clipping the tops of the high mountains, it was not raining.

I took a right when the route went left and headed into the open moors. We can do that here. We have so many great roads and so many options. “ Have you ever been along this road? “ My friend had not, which is always a special moment as I knew that this was such a special road with the finest views. It lashed it down half way along in the most exposed part of our ride. You can plan almost everything, and we do try to do that. It was one of the best rides of the year so far, of course it was and our friend got to ride a new road.
